The Josephine Ball

with Showcases

Saturday 5th June

Get your glad rags on and step back in time for a dance with Josephine! She's a bonnie green steam locomotive who began her career on the Dunedin-Port Chalmers Railway in 1872. She's currently making the entrance to ToitÅ« Museum look pretty snazzy.

With more rinky tinky and jingle jangle than you know what to do with, our festival house band, The Rinky Tinky Jingle Jangle Jazz Club, will take you back to the jazz era, so you can let off some steam.

Swingin' on Stafford

Sunday 6th June

It's the last night of the Midwinter Swing Festival so you know we'll be dancing! We'll be swingin' up a storm in the stunningly renovated "Ross and Glendining" historic building. Ross & Glendining Ltd was at one time the largest manufacturing company in New Zealand, and part of a thriving domestic industry in textiles and clothing. Let's all honour this building's history in the rag trade by wearing your fave vintage swing era outfit.

Skin & Bone are a swing, string and sing unit from the gin-and-tonic end of the "Cowboy Lounge" and, boy, can they play a mean tune.

A taster class to teach you the basics opens the event at 7:00pm.
